Are you carrying emotional weight and stress in your pelvis? How the pelvis acts as an emotional storage bowl.

Did you know that your pelvis can act as a storage bowl and carry all of your unconscious emotions, unhealed personal and generational traumas, shame, rage, stress?

Do you any childhood emotional wounds that has carried with you? Do you have PTSD or physical trauma from childbirth? Are you feeling insecure with yourself? Do you have anxiety, anger, or even rage? Maybe you have tight hips, pelvic floor issues, low back pain. All of this can manifest from stuck energy in your lower energetic system.

This is all stored in our subtle or energetic body. This is where energy flows through the body. There are 7 main energetic wheels in the body known as Chakras. When energy becomes blocked in a chakra, it triggers physical, mental, or emotional imbalances that manifest in symptoms such as anxiety, lack of energy, and pelvic issues. Each chakra represents different elements and can manifest in certain ways. When a chakra is in balance, energy can flow freely. The pelvis is comprised of the root and sacral chakras which I will go into more detail below.

Balancing and getting stuck energy flowing again starts with practicing self awareness and self connection. Yoga asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathwork) are designed to get this energy flowing. Yoga might just be physical to some, but either way you look at yoga, you still get the metaphysical and mental benefits with it.

The Root/Muladhara Chakra

The root or muladhara chakra, the very first energetic system in the body, is placed at the base of our foundation and spine. The root chakra creates a solid foundation for the chakras above. So if your root chakra is out of balance, it can be difficult to balance the rest. The pelvic floor is located at the base or root of the body, near the muladhara or root chakra. The root chakra relates to all the foundation areas in our lives like our home, family and the community. If you are struggling to have your basic needs met, feelings of disempowerment, or replaying childhood narratives. These patterns can be deep seeded and cause an energy imbalance in the chakra creating anxiety and depression which leads to rapid shallow breathing. This energy wheel is linked to our “fight or flight” response in the body. Anxious, rapid, shallow breathing can lead to an impact on the pelvic floor, causing disfunction. A balanced root chakra feels like a sense of ease, less stress, regularity in metabolism and bowels, and feeling secure in life.

The Sacral/Svadhisthana Chakra

Moving up to the second chakra, sacral or Svadhisthana chakra. This chakra sits right at the lower belly, inner pelvis. Right at the womb space. This chakra is responsible for our emotions, creativity, relationships with others and ourselves, sexual wellness, and feminine energy. This is such a powerful energetic system to have balanced as a woman. It harnesses all of our emotions, expressions, and our personal expansion. This is where we hold our super powers as women!

The sacral chakra correlates with the birth of all things. This is our creative, joyful, confident energy that lies within us. An imbalanced sacral chakra can result from sexual shame, trauma, poor self-image, emotional states, culture, and history of abuse. This can all build up and become heavy in the body, creating dysfunction in the pelvis, back and hips, guilt, shame, lack of creativity, lack of libido, lack of motivation, not feeling loved. A balanced sacral chakra will re empower and ignite the powerful divine feminine goddess energy within. It enables us to live our best lives, speaking our truths, and living authentically by our highest selves.
